Charlene

Charlene, you brought four of us into the light

You raised us up strong and you raised us up right

Now we’re all grown up with kids of our own

But your heart is the warmest we've ever known

You gave me my life and you showed me the way

With a love that gets sweeter each passing day

Oh, Charlene, you've got a soul made of gold

Watching your grandbabies, a sight to behold

You laugh through the years and you trust in the Lord

This family we built is a beautiful reward

When the sun comes up and the dew is still new

We hear "In the Garden" and we think of you

I think of the jokes and the pranks I would pull

Trying to trick you and acting the fool

I'd set up a surprise and I'd wait by the door

And you'd just start laughing right there on the floor

You never got angry, you just shook your head

Finding the joy in the silly things said

Oh, Charlene, you've got a soul made of gold

Watching your grandbabies, a sight to behold

You laugh through the years and you trust in the Lord

This family we built is a beautiful reward

When the sun comes up and the dew is still new

We hear "In the Garden" and we think of you

Your faith is the rock that our family leans on

From the quiet of night to the break of the dawn

He walks with you and He talks with you, too

And shines His bright light in all that you do

Oh, Charlene, you've got a soul made of gold

Watching your grandbabies, a sight to behold

You laugh through the years and you trust in the Lord

This family we built is a beautiful reward

When the sun comes up and the dew is still new

We hear "In the Garden" and we thank God for you
