Lee

I sat in her class in the study of grace

We kept at a distance, we guarded our space

But after the sorrow, the Lord let us see

The beautiful plan He had written for me

A gentleman, faithful, so godly and true

I never expected this journey with you

You opened the scripture to read me from Ruth

And promised your heart in the light of the truth

"Where you go, I will go," on the path we have trod

"Where you lodge, I will lodge," and we'll serve the same God

You sing "And Can It Be" with a spirit so free

I marvel that God gave a husband like Lee

Now fourteen grandchildren are filling our days

And two little greats bring us joy in new ways

From streaming the tennis to Texas's courts

We cherish the moments of cheering their sports

With Noel, your daughter, a light in our eyes

And Brooks down in Florida, preaching so wise

You opened the scripture to read me from Ruth

And promised your heart in the light of the truth

"Where you go, I will go," on the path we have trod

"Where you lodge, I will lodge," and we'll serve the same God

You sing "And Can It Be" with a spirit so free

I marvel that God gave a husband like Lee

From strolling Savannah, the start of our life

When I was first honored to stand as your wife

To South Africa's soil on a mission of grace

We carried His love to a beautiful place

You opened the scripture to read me from Ruth

And promised your heart in the light of the truth

"Where you go, I will go," on the path we have trod

"Where you lodge, I will lodge," and we'll serve the same God

You sing "And Can It Be" with a spirit so free

I marvel that God gave a husband like Lee
