Brett

From the time you learned to walk, you were drawn to the game

We had a hoop in every room, you'd always take your aim

Down in my parents' basement, you'd put on quite a show

Calling the play-by-play yourself, letting the whole crowd know

Oh, Brett, I look at you now and I just have to smile

You've carried that same bright spirit every single mile

I am so proud of the man you have become today

With a loving heart that guides you every step of the way

You always keep us laughing, you've got that funny bone

Breaking out that Forrest Gump, a classic of your own

The smile that Maddie brings to you, the way she lights your face

It fills my heart right to the brim, seeing you in this place

Oh, Brett, I look at you now and I just have to smile

You've carried that same bright spirit every single mile

I am so proud of the man you have become today

With a loving heart that guides you every step of the way

But what shows me who you really are, deep down in your soul

Is the way you step right up to play a father's role

Loving Maxton like your own, without a second thought

Proves the tender, caring man that all these years have brought

Oh, Brett, I look at you now and I just have to smile

You've carried that same bright spirit every single mile

I am so proud of the man you have become today

With a loving heart that guides you every step of the way

Yeah, I'm so proud of the son I see in you today
