I look in the mirror and see where I've been

Learning to soften and breathing again

Those two heavy years, I thought they would break me

I was afraid that the sorrow would take me

But Deidrae, you're standing, you weathered the storm

Keeping your heart so compassionate, warm

I found my way back to the arms of the Lord

My faith is renewed and my spirit restored

Jesus has loved me through every mistake

He mended the pieces I thought I would break

I'm lifting my hands, I am grateful and free

Knowing God always has loved and forgiven me

I poured out my soul till my spirit was bare

A life made of giving and offering care

But I had to learn how to be strong for myself

To take my own healing right down from the shelf

I look at the woman I'm growing to be

And I see how His mercy was watching o'er me
