Mona

Lord knows I am blessed by the woman who raised me

Mona, your spirit just never stops amazing me

You carry a wisdom that anchors my soul

With a beautiful humor that makes me whole

You poured out your grace so that I could grow strong

Now I'm singing this truth in the words of a song

So don't let anyone tell you what you cannot do

Don't let a single shadow block out your view

You've got mountains to climb and a whole world to see

Don't let anyone stop you, Mama, not even me

Keep on shining your light, wild and free

I think of the miles we've traveled so far

The tears and the joy, just laughing in the car

The jokes that we share while the engine hums low

Are the moments that guide me wherever I go

You taught me to smile when the road gets too steep

Now I have a message I want you to keep

So don't let anyone tell you what you cannot do

Don't let a single shadow block out your view

You've got mountains to climb and a whole world to see

Don't let anyone stop you, Mama, not even me

Keep on shining your light, wild and free

You spent your whole life lifting me higher

Now it is your time to reach for the fire

If I ever cast doubt or stand in your way

Just push past my worries and step in the day

You're amazing, Mama, you've earned every dream

Let the whole world hear it, let the heavens gleam!

Don't let anyone tell you what you cannot do

Don't let a single shadow block out your view

You've got mountains to climb and a whole world to see

Don't let anyone stop you, Mama, not even me

Oh, Mona, you're exactly who you're meant to be

Don't let anyone stop you, no, not even me
