Shondria

August twentieth, nineteen ninety-nine

The day the Lord made your beautiful light shine

I first laid eyes on my sweet baby girl

And knew you'd bring such comfort to the world

You grew into a woman with a caring heart

Encouraging the broken, always doing your part

But even the strongest need a place to rest

When the trials of life put your faith to the test

Oh, Shondria, the battle is not yours, it is the Lord's

Give it to Jesus, He is your shield and your sword

Pray about everything, let Him heal the hurt

Just let go and let God, and watch Him work

You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength

He will carry you, no matter the length

I smile when I remember how you worship and praise

Dancing for the Savior in those beautiful days

Singing in the choir, lifting up your voice

From the local church to Nationals, making Heaven rejoice

Then we’d sit together, just mother and daughter

Having heart-to-heart talks, pouring out living water

I told you even when you feel you're on your own

God is right beside you, you are never alone

Oh, Shondria, the battle is not yours, it is the Lord's

Give it to Jesus, He is your shield and your sword

Pray about everything, let Him heal the hurt

Just let go and let God, and watch Him work

You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength

He will carry you, no matter the length

You love the Lord so deeply, you're a beacon in the night

You show the people around you how to walk in His light

So when the shadows gather and the mountain is too steep

Remember the promises that Heaven will keep

Give it all to Jesus, every worry, every tear

Let His perfect love cast out all of your fear

Oh, Shondria, the battle is not yours, it is the Lord's!

Give it to Jesus, He is your shield and your sword!

Pray about everything, let Him heal the hurt

Just let go and let God, and watch Him work!

Yes, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength

He will carry you, no matter the length

Just let go and let God... and watch Him work!
