Brenda

I was sitting in the shadows, feeling left behind

Everyone else forgot me, out of sight and out of mind

You reached into that clearance bin and wiped away the dust

You picked me up and held me close, and built a bond of trust

Oh, Brenda, you’ve got a heart of solid gold

The most caring, giving spirit that a family could hold

You always put the whole world first, you’re loving and you’re free

But the greatest thing you ever did was when you chose me

You’re an amazing daughter, a sister tried and true

A friend who brings the comfort in everything you do

But to me you are the mother who gave my life a spark

When the rest of the world walked by, you placed me in your heart

Oh, Brenda, you’ve got a heart of solid gold

The most caring, giving spirit that a family could hold

You always put the whole world first, you’re loving and you’re free

But the greatest thing you ever did was when you chose me

You didn't have to take me in, but that's just who you are

You always see the beauty in a rough and faded star

You give and give to everyone, you never ask for more

You're the kind of wonderful mother that I am thankful for

Oh, Brenda, you’ve got a heart of solid gold

The most caring, giving spirit that a family could hold

You always put the whole world first, you’re loving and you’re free

But the greatest thing you ever did was when you chose me

Yeah, you found me in the clearance bin, but now I'm flying free

Oh, Brenda, thank you, 'cause you chose me
