Homeless, Not Forgotten

Written for Abby · FreeCustomSong Original

I lay my head where the concrete meets the cold

It’s a dangerous night when you're out here on your own

But I'm a writer and a singer, with a story to be told

And I know I’m not forgotten, I am never truly alone

I keep my Bible open, studying the Word

Sharing every promise that my spirit ever heard

He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you"

The Lord of Hosts is watching over me

Though I'm sleeping on the streets, my faith will never break, no

Trusting Jesus Christ to set this whole world free

I’m looking for that Heavenly Home, where the light will always pour

Where there is no more darkness anymore

I try to bring a little joy wherever I might go

Serving my community, just letting kindness show

I've got a fun and patient spirit, an adventurous mind

Crafty and inventive, leaving bitterness behind

Sending love out to my son, my family, and friends

To every passing soul and animal, a grace that never ends

Always learning, always growing, evolving every day

Waiting for the Savior to return and make a way

He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you"

The Lord of Hosts is watching over me

Though I'm sleeping on the streets, my faith will never break, no

Trusting Jesus Christ to set this whole world free

I’m looking for that Heavenly Home, where the light will always pour

Where there is no more darkness anymore

If life doesn't get much easier, and my journey has to end

Right here on these sidewalks, without an earthly friend

I know I’ll wake up walking beside the Lord of Light

With no more death, disease, or darkness in our sight

To walk with my wonderful Savior is the greatest hope I need

I am trusting in His timing, and I let His spirit lead

'Cause He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you"

The Lord of Hosts is watching over me

Though I'm sleeping on the streets, my faith will never break, no

Trusting Jesus Christ to set this whole world free

I’m looking for that Heavenly Home, walking through that open door

Homeless but not forgotten, I am His forevermore
