Chimamanda

Yeah, looking back to the start, my crying little sweety pie

Now I’m looking at a star shining right before my eyes

Chimamanda, you’re beautiful, inside and out

Caring and loving, yeah, that’s what you’re about

Every time you smile, you light up the room

Watching how you grow, watching my flower bloom

You got a heart of gold, a spirit I can't measure

Every single moment with you is a lifelong treasure

Happy birthday, my angel, it’s your special day

Mum and Chiemelie love you more than words can say

Yeah, we’ll always be right here, standing by your side

I will always lift you, carry you up the sky

Carry you up the sky, yeah, reach for the light

Chimamanda, keep shining, keep taking flight

Let’s take it to the field, stepping up to the plate

Swinging at the baseball, man, you’re doing great

Kicking the soccer ball, running down the grass

Playing all these games, making every minute last

From the kids club days to the hide and seek

Counting one to ten, trying not to take a peek

Found you in the corner with a giggle and a grin

No matter what we play, I always feel like I win

Happy birthday, my angel, it’s your special day

Mum and Chiemelie love you more than words can say

Yeah, we’ll always be right here, standing by your side

I will always lift you, carry you up the sky

Carry you up the sky, yeah, reach for the light

Chimamanda, keep shining, keep taking flight

You’re so caring, putting everybody first

Quenching all the sadness like water to a thirst

A beautiful soul, yeah, you’re one of a kind

The brightest little spark that I could ever find

No matter how tall or how big you might grow

There is one thing that my daughter’s gotta know

Yeah, Mum and Chiemelie got your back for life

Through the highs and the lows, through the joy and the strife

Today is all about you, let’s celebrate the name

Chimamanda in the building, stepping in the frame

So make a big wish and blow out the flame

Our love for you will always stay the same

Happy birthday, my angel, it’s your special day

Mum and Chiemelie love you more than words can say

Yeah, we’ll always be right here, standing by your side

I will always lift you, carry you up the sky

Carry you up the sky, yeah, reach for the light

Chimamanda, keep shining, keep taking flight

Carry you up the sky, my angel, take flight
