Maurice

Let’s take it back, reflect on the start,

Before the peace and the patience took ahold of your heart.

Used to be the smash and grab, living on the edge,

But you stepped back from the drop and walked away from the ledge.

Now I look at you, Maurice, and I see the growth,

You made a promise to us and you honored the oath.

Turned your whole life around for the better, it’s true,

Now there ain't a single thing that you wouldn't do.

You’re a family man, holding down the home,

Making sure we never gotta face it alone.

Patient and understanding, with a heart of gold,

The greatest turnaround that was ever told.

Yeah, Maurice, you go above and beyond,

Built a brand new life and an unbreakable bond.

Wake up every morning, yeah, you get the job done,

Putting in the hours till the setting of the sun.

You make sure the house is straight, everything is good,

Providing for your own like a real man should.

And even when it’s stressful, you can make me smile,

Got that sense of humor that carries for a mile.

Steady on your feet, keeping everybody calm,

You traded in the chaos and you kept us from harm.

You’re a family man, holding down the home,

Making sure we never gotta face it alone.

Patient and understanding, with a heart of gold,

The greatest turnaround that was ever told.

Yeah, Maurice, you go above and beyond,

Built a brand new life and an unbreakable bond.

It takes a heavy will to rewrite the page,

To leave the past behind and step onto a new stage.

You traded in the hustle for the love of your own,

Planted new seeds and look at how they've grown.

I’m proud to be your partner, proud to be your wife,

You brought the light back into this life.

'Cause you’re a family man, holding down the home,

Making sure we never gotta face it alone.

Patient and understanding, with a heart of gold,

The greatest turnaround that was ever told.

Yeah, Maurice, you go above and beyond,

Built a brand new life and an unbreakable bond.
