Dakota

When I found out I was pregnant, my heart filled up with joy

A kind of happiness that nothing could destroy

Eleven years ago, God gave a gift to me

The most beautiful gift that there could ever be

From the very first moment you came into this world

I knew I had a miracle in my little girl

Oh, Dakota, you shine like the northern star

I'm so amazed by the beautiful girl you are

Smart and friendly, with a heart so kind

You leave a little light everywhere you shine

You make this whole world a better place

I've loved you from day one, and that will never change

I've watched you grow up right before my eyes

As the days and the seasons have hurried by

From a little baby that I used to hold

To a strong young lady with a heart of gold

You're loving and you're caring in all you do

I am so incredibly proud of you

Oh, Dakota, you shine like the northern star

I'm so amazed by the beautiful girl you are

Smart and friendly, with a heart so kind

You leave a little light everywhere you shine

You make this whole world a better place

I've loved you from day one, and that will never change

Time moves so fast, but I want you to know

I'll be right beside you wherever you go

You're growing up perfectly, inside and out

And being your parent is what life's all about

So keep on smiling and stay just as sweet

To every single person that you ever meet

I'll say it again, so you always know it's true

I will spend forever just loving you

Oh, Dakota, you shine like the northern star

I'm so amazed by the beautiful girl you are

Smart and friendly, with a heart so kind

You leave a little light everywhere you shine

You make this whole world a better place

I've loved you from day one, and that will never change

Yeah, I'll love you forever, my northern star
