Elda

Thinking back to when we were just kids

I still remember all the crazy things you did

You were quite the prankster, laughing down the hall

Getting me in so much trouble, making me take the fall

It wasn't funny then, but I look back and smile

'Cause my big sister’s had my back all the while

Oh, sista sista, I might forget a date

Your birthday might slip by, a little bit late

But be certain that I hold you right here in my heart

No matter where we are, we're never far apart

You're the sweetest soul I've ever known

My favorite sister, how my love has grown

Now you're a mother to a beautiful son

A loyal, dedicated wife when the day is done

You spend your hours caring for the elderly and weak

A home health provider, bringing comfort when things look bleak

You give the benefit of the doubt from the very start

That’s just the way you are, Elda, pure of heart

Oh, sista sista, I might forget a date

Your birthday might slip by, a little bit late

But be certain that I hold you right here in my heart

No matter where we are, we're never far apart

You're the sweetest soul I've ever known

My favorite sister, how my love has grown

I appreciate everything you've ever done for me

And for everyone else, it's so easy to see

You are the most understanding, supportive and true

I love you to pieces, Elda, I really do

Oh, sista sista, I might forget a date

Your birthday might slip by, a little bit late

But be certain that I hold you right here in my heart

No matter where we are, we're never far apart

You give the benefit of the doubt, time and time again

My favorite sister, my lifelong friend
