Derek

Thirty-five years ago, the whole world stood still

The very first time I held you, I remember it well

Looking down at your face, I knew I was blessed

A beautiful gift from God, my heart was at rest

Derek, you're handsome, you're humble and strong

With a loving heart that carries you on

But no matter the years or the heights you enjoy

You will always, always be my baby boy

And nothing or no one, whatever we go through

Can ever stop me from loving you

It's amazing to see how your story unfolds

A man of such character, steady and bold

Seeing your strength and compassion for life

Fills up my days with a beautiful light

Derek, you're handsome, you're humble and strong

With a loving heart that carries you on

But no matter the years or the heights you enjoy

You will always, always be my baby boy

And nothing or no one, whatever we go through

Can ever stop me from loving you

Time keeps on moving, the decades fly past

But the bond that we share is built to last

You're a man of such grace, but I need you to know

My love is a river that never stops its flow

Derek, you're handsome, you're humble and strong

With a loving heart that carries you on

But no matter the years or the heights you enjoy

You will always, always be my baby boy

And nothing or no one, whatever we go through

Can ever stop me from loving you
