Terry

We started out as friends upon a glowing little screen

Just talking through a Facebook page and everything between

Then a long and weary road trip brought me underneath your stars

I pulled into your driveway and I finally parked the car

With two dogs in the backseat and a heavy, tired load

You met us on the front steps at the end of the road

Oh Terry, you're a special friend, as genuine as they come

You opened up your heart to us and shared your loving home

You're funny and you're generous, a steady, shining light

You turned a heavy highway into something right

Yeah, you took us in and changed the way the story was defined

And made this trip the very best chapter of my life

You didn't bat an eye when my pups came running through

You loved them like your very own, that's just the thing you do

A wonderful dog mom, with a gentle, patient touch

And getting to know your parents, well, it really meant so much

Your hospitality just wrapped us in a warm embrace

I found a true connection when I walked into this place

Oh Terry, you're a special friend, as genuine as they come

You opened up your heart to us and shared your loving home

You're funny and you're generous, a steady, shining light

You turned a heavy highway into something right

Yeah, you took us in and changed the way the story was defined

And made this trip the very best chapter of my life

It's rare to find a spirit who is so completely true

Who takes a weary traveler and makes them feel brand new

I thought I was just driving, just passing through the miles

But you made it all worth it with your welcoming smile

Oh Terry, you're a special friend, as genuine as they come

You opened up your heart to us and shared your loving home

You're funny and you're generous, a steady, shining light

You turned a heavy highway into something right

Yeah, you took us in and changed the way the story was defined

You made this trip the very best chapter of my life
