Michigan

I still remember that very first day

The moment I saw you, you took my breath away

I held you so close, and right then I knew

I loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you

Michigan, I watch you now and I just have to smile

Seeing the woman you've become after all this while

You’ve got the biggest heart in the entire world

My absolutely gorgeous, sweet and caring girl

You always put everybody else before yourself

Giving out your love like it's your greatest wealth

Inside and out, you shine like the sun

My beautiful granddaughter, my Michigan

I think about the days of muddy hands and jeans

Catching little frogs down by the summer streams

Now you're growing older, and the years go flying by

But we still have our girl-to-girl talks underneath the sky

Sharing all our secrets, talking through the dark

You still have that same sweet, gentle little spark

I know the road wasn't always easy to walk

There were heavy seasons when we just had to talk

But even through everything that you went through

You never lost the grace that makes you, you

'Cause you’ve got the biggest heart in the entire world

My absolutely gorgeous, sweet and caring girl

You always put everybody else before yourself

Giving out your love like it's your greatest wealth

Inside and out, you shine like the sun

My beautiful granddaughter, my Michigan
