Erykah

Twenty-seven years ago, heaven sent a prize

You came into my life, a blessing in disguise

I held my baby daughter, and right from the start

I saw the gentle rhythm of your pure and tender heart

Oh, Erykah, you love with an open hand

Putting everyone else before where you stand

Protective and caring, through the sun and the shade

You are fearfully and wonderfully made

You never have been selfish, you give without a sound

Lifting up the heavy spirits whenever they are down

I watch the way you shelter those who need a place to hide

But don't forget the beauty that you carry deep inside

Oh, Erykah, you love with an open hand

Putting everyone else before where you stand

Protective and caring, through the sun and the shade

You are fearfully and wonderfully made

There is so much still inside of you, waiting to unfold

A story of His goodness that hasn't yet been told

For eyes haven't seen, and ears haven't heard

All the things God has planned in the promise of His word

Oh, Erykah, you love with an open hand

Putting everyone else before where you stand

Protective and caring, through the sun and the shade

You are fearfully and wonderfully made

My blessing, you are fearfully and wonderfully made
