Kyle

I was looking at that old vacation photograph

And I could almost hear your sudden, easy laugh

Posing by the warning sign just for fun

Standing on the shoulder in the summer sun

"Watch out for falling rocks" right above your head

I smile at the funny things you always said

Oh Kyle, keep seeking the light in the dark

With that honest and wise, beautiful heart

You were made for a purpose, perfectly designed

Created for the works that God had in mind

Whatever the road ahead of you brings

Just know you are meant for incredible things

You never just settle for the easy way out

You're seeking the answers to what life is about

There is a quiet wisdom in the words that you speak

A genuine honesty in the truth that you seek

You tell it like it is, with a joke and a smile

I am so proud to call you my son, Kyle

Oh Kyle, keep seeking the light in the dark

With that honest and wise, beautiful heart

You were made for a purpose, perfectly designed

Created for the works that God had in mind

Whatever the road ahead of you brings

Just know you are meant for incredible things

There will be mountains and gravel and stone

But you will never walk through the valley alone

Keep using your humor to lighten the load

And trust in the Maker who laid out the road

So keep that old picture somewhere close by

A reminder to laugh when the mountains get high

I'm watching in wonder as your story unfolds

Stepping into the future that heaven holds

Oh Kyle, keep seeking the light in the dark

With that honest and wise, beautiful heart

You were made for a purpose, perfectly designed

Created for the works that God had in mind

Whatever the road ahead of you brings

Just know you are meant for incredible things
