I used to carry the weight of yesterday

Walking through valleys, just trying to pray

But the Lord reached down and He lifted my head

Replaced all my worries with mercy instead

I laid down my burdens right there at the door

The past doesn't hold my spirit anymore

With the Lord's guiding hand, I found my release

I look in the mirror and finally see peace

He washed away the shadows, He made my heart new

And carried His daughter Angela through

I left all the pain of the past far behind

Thank God for this quiet, sweet peace of mind

I think of my Mom and my Dad and their love

A beautiful blessing from heaven above

Now I look at my children and grandchildren too

And see the Lord's goodness in all that they do

My family is gathered, we stand in the light
