Sissy

We were just kids running round in the street

Doors flying open in the summer heat

You lost that Chinese fire drill, it's true

But that was the moment my eyes found you

You were fourteen years old, looking my way

And I've been in love since that very first day

Oh, Sissy, you're the love of my life

My everyday best friend, my beautiful wife

Through thirty-nine years of the highs and the lows

I'm holding your hand everywhere that we go

Happy sixtieth birthday, my dream come true

I am so proud to do life with you

When the weekend rolls in, we head down south

To the salt in the air at the river's mouth

Down in Grand Isle, Louisiana sand

With a fishing pole right there in your hand

You're a rock for our kids and the grandkids too

They are so lucky to be loved by you

That beach is your happy place, plain to see

But my happy place is you next to me

Oh, Sissy, you're the love of my life

My everyday best friend, my beautiful wife

Through thirty-nine years of the highs and the lows

I'm holding your hand everywhere that we go

Happy sixtieth birthday, my dream come true

I am so proud to do life with you

We've weathered the storms and we've rode the waves

Counted the blessings and cherished the days

From a teenage crush to a diamond ring

I wouldn't trade our story for anything

Oh, Sissy, you're the love of my life

My everyday best friend, my beautiful wife

Through thirty-nine years of the highs and the lows

I'm holding your hand everywhere that we go

Happy sixtieth birthday, my dream come true

I am so proud to do life with you

Yeah, I am so proud to do life with you
