Evelyn

We needed some God in our life, so we went to the church

We were looking for hope, we were ending our search

And there you were, Evelyn, tending the space

A caring friend showing the beauty of grace

Always so helpful, with a heart open wide

You walked through the sanctuary right by our side

But you gave us a scare when the darkness fell down

Thank God that His love was wrapping around

We lifted our voices, we gathered to pray

And asked the Good Lord not to take you away

Through the prayers that we shared and the mercy He gave

You are walking in a second chance today

You've always been serving, just doing your part

Helping the ministry out with your heart

You carried our burdens and showed us the truth

So we knew we had to stand in the gap for you

When the stroke hit so sudden and made you so weak

We turned to the altar for the healing we seek

Cause you gave us a scare when the darkness fell down

Thank God that His love was wrapping around

We lifted our voices, we gathered to pray

And asked the Good Lord not to take you away

Through the prayers that we shared and the mercy He gave

You are walking in a second chance today

The fear in the waiting, the tears in the night

We held onto faith till the morning brought light

The Maker wasn't finished with all you will do

He heard every whisper and carried you through

Yes, He carried you through

You gave us a scare when the darkness fell down

But the love of the Father was wrapping around

We lifted our voices, we gathered to pray

And thanked the Good Lord that He kept you this way

Through the prayers that we shared and the mercy He gave

Evelyn, you're living your second chance today
