Cheryl

It was United Wesleyan where our story starts

Two young friends with open hearts

You had a quiet strength I came to know

A gentle spirit that continued to grow

Through all the classes and the late-night talks

I saw the faith in every step you walk

Oh Cheryl, keep your eyes upon the Lord

You are the loyal friend I thank Him for

Patient and giving, a reflection of His grace

A God-pleasing soul in every time and place

Whatever comes, whatever paths you see

Keep following Christ, just like you’ve shown to me

I still remember when we crossed that stage

Turning the chapter to a brand new page

That graduation gift we couldn't wait to see

Making those memories down in Disney

Through all the laughter on that joyful ride

I had my faithful friend right by my side

Oh Cheryl, keep your eyes upon the Lord

You are the loyal friend I thank Him for

Patient and giving, a reflection of His grace

A God-pleasing soul in every time and place

Whatever comes, whatever paths you see

Keep following Christ, just like you’ve shown to me

You always put the needs of others first

A well of kindness when the world is hurt

You live your life to make the Savior smile

Walking in faith across every single mile

So Cheryl, keep your eyes upon the Lord

You are the loyal friend I thank Him for

Patient and giving, a reflection of His grace

A God-pleasing soul in every time and place

Whatever comes, whatever paths you see

Keep following Christ, and He will lead you, Cheryl

Keep following Christ, just like you’ve shown to me
