Lucas

You come home tired from the shop where you stand

A hardworking mechanic with grease on your hands

But those same hands are so steady and kind

The sweetest soul that a woman could find

You're out in the backyard, leaving out food

For the stray cats who wander the neighborhood

You take care of me, you take care of our own

Lucas, you're the safest place I've ever known

We have our ups and downs, our ins and outs

But when it comes to us, I have no doubts

There’s not a single day that I don’t love you

You complete me, honest and true

I’ll stand by your side, I am forever blessed

I'll love you in this life, and I'll love you in the next

I still see the waves on that Florida shore

A Christmas by the ocean, who could ask for more?

Then we packed up our lives and we took to the road

A five-year adventure, sharing the load

Six fur babies in a thirty-foot space

That camper was home when I looked in your face

Through every mile marker and highway we crossed

As long as I'm with you, I'll never be lost

We have our ups and downs, our ins and outs

But when it comes to us, I have no doubts

There’s not a single day that I don’t love you

You complete me, honest and true

I’ll stand by your side, I am forever blessed

I'll love you in this life, and I'll love you in the next

Through the engine repairs and the tears that we've cried

I will never stop loving you here by my side

You give so much heart to our pets and to me

You're everything a husband was meant to be

We have our ups and downs, our ins and outs

But when it comes to us, I have no doubts

There’s not a single day that I don’t love you

You complete me, honest and true

I’ll stand by your side, I am forever blessed

I'll love you in this life, and I'll love you in the next
