Pete

Pete, I've known you since back when I was just eight

Years before we went out on our very first date

Thirty years since The Villa, you put me at rest

With butterflies dancing around in my chest

You lit up my face with a beautiful smile

And I knew I'd be staying a long, long while

'Cause we are true soulmates, it feels like forever

Walking this long country highway together

You lit up my smile then, and you still do today

Chasing the clouds and the worries away

Always and forever, through the rhythm and rhyme

I will love you, my Pete, till the end of time

I've watched how you've grown and you've changed for the better

Holding us close through the heaviest weather

You survived all the hard things you shouldn't have borne

Standing so strong through the wind and the storm

When I look at our five daughters, the pride of our life

I see the great father and I'm a proud wife

'Cause we are true soulmates, it feels like forever

Walking this long country highway together

You lit up my smile then, and you still do today

Chasing the clouds and the worries away

Always and forever, through the rhythm and rhyme

I will love you, my Pete, till the end of time

You carried the weight when the going was rough

Proving that tender can also be tough

From the boy that I met to the man you are now

You kept every promise and honored our vow

Yeah, we are true soulmates, it feels like forever

Walking this long country highway together

You lit up my smile then, and you still do today

Chasing the clouds and the worries away

Always and forever, through the rhythm and rhyme

I will love you, my Pete, till the end of time
